Week 1 A Place To Stand Day: 2

Activity 2: Fabulous Ferns [4 points]

One of the most common plants found in New Zealand forests is the fern. It is a special, iconic symbol of New Zealand. You will find pictures of ferns on the jerseys of many famous sporting teams in New Zealand, including the New Zealand All Blacks.

Did you know that many of these teams also have the word ‘fern’ in their name? Use your best researching skills to find three New Zealand sporting teams who use the word ‘fern’ in their title.

On your blog list three sports teams that have the word ‘fern’ in their title. Beside each team’s name, post a picture of their uniform. Then, at the bottom of your blog post tell us which of the three uniforms you like best and why.

My favorite uniform is the tall fern because when I look at it I looks like a moari pattern by the way it looks like a really cool maori thing. I bet that maori people will even like them and like to wear them.

  1. Kia ora Mathew,
I agree with you as I also really like the tall ferns uniform, I like it because of the Maori patterns on the side as I think is really lovely and not so obvious.
For the future I want you to proof read you writing and make sure you are checking for clarity and not repeating yourself and, also think about using full stop to make your sentences/ideas clearer, instead of using long sentences. Overall you did a good job here! Thanks for completing another activity!
    Kia kaha,
    Patricia

  3. Hi Mathew,

I really like how you explained why you liked the tall ferns. In my opinion I would choose the All Blacks uniform because of rugby is my favourite sport and the All Blacks are my favourite team, so I would choose the All Blacks uniform.

    Kind Regards,
    Richie
