What are they?
I see Waitangi Day as a celebration and a remembrance of the changes that happened the day the treaty was signed where it changed New Zealand Forever.
At first, there was a war between the British and Maori and now there is no war but not only that the British and Maori work together to civilize on this land.
Waitangi Day
What I know about the treaty are Three things. One the treaty of Waitangi was a peacemaker between the war against the British and Maori. Two that Henry Williams and his son Edward came up with the treaty to bring peace among both sides. And three Waitangi is celebrated every year on February 6th the day that the treaty of Waitangi was signed by William Hobson.
Waitangi Day. Why do we celebrate it? It's because it's the national day of New Zealand, which marks the anniversary of the Signing between the British and Maori on February 6th 1840.
